16 ÷ 8 = 2 inches
Every MR16 bulb has a reflector that measures approximately 2 inches in diameter, regardless of the type of base on the back.
That means several different electrical connections may exist on an MR16 bulb.
MR16 Is the Shape—Not the Base

Many homeowners believe MR16 automatically means the bulb has two small pins.
